Here's What Former NFL Players Think About "THE ULTIMATE GAME" “(THE ULTIMATE GAME) reads as if Tom Clancy hijacked Monday Night Football; it’s that cutting edge.” – Joe Kapp; Super Bowl Quarterback and CFL Hall of Fame Inductee “THE ULTIMATE GAME puts the sport of professional football in a futuristic setting and tells a tale of what technology could one day allow. It’s a positive, exciting thrill-ride for all ages. It’s a frightening and intriguing look at how the game could be manipulated.” – Dan Pastorini; Pro Bowl Quarterback “I cheer Kevin (Bakko) for writing a fast moving, fun, futuristic novel that thoroughly entertained me. And he found no need to load the book with the smut that has been filling most sports books to date.” – Phil Villapiano; Super Bowl Champion Linebacker “If John Grisham and Issac Asimov got together to write a novel about pro football – this is what they would write. You have to read it to believe it!” – Jeff Nixon; Former Player, and Editor / Nat’l Advocacy Committee Member of ‘Fourth and Goal Assists’ “Kevin Bakko does a great job of conveying the spirit of the players and their drive to be the World Champions of NFL football. He also points out the price that players pay to play in the NFL both mentally and physically.” – Carl Mauck; Thirty-Four Year NFL Veteran Player and Assistant Coach “THE ULTIMATE GAME is a book that honors the NFL alumnus of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.” – George Martin; Super Bowl Champion Defensive End and President of the NFL Alumni Association IMAGINE THE MOST TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED VIDEO FOOTBALL GAME EVER CREATED. IMAGINE SOME OF THE GREATEST PRO PLAYERS TO EVER STEP ON THE GRIDIRON AT THE CONTROLS. NOW IMAGINE BOTH, MANIPULATING A REAL NFL FOOTBALL TEAM... WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE... WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT. 2019 is the 100th Anniversary of the National Football League, and the Houston Texans have just won their second Super Bowl in a row. Now comes their quest for an unprecedented third consecutive trip to the championship game. Yet accomplishing this extraordinary feat will not be left to either dutiful preparation or divine providence. A glory-driven head coach (Walt Griffin) and a narcissistic neuroscientist in need of human guinea pigs (Dr. John McLane) have combined forces to reach the final phase of their respective life’s ambition. But murder, mayhem, and the pursuit of answers to gut-wrenching questions are driving veteran All-Pro quarterback Rod Mackenna to make sense of the resulting toll that has been taken by his team, his teammates, and his long – but no longer – unrequited love interest. On the day of the Super Bowl – with the final piece to an unimaginable puzzle firmly in his grasp – Griffin and McLane catch Mac within the confines of the clandestine command center used by their band of former gridiron heroes to control the active players, on-the-field, like a macabre video game. Only the threat of harm to his (now) fiancée keeps Mac on the sideline with a bogus injury as the final contest of the season kicks off.

Each chapter offers common sense solutions to help you focus your life on the issues that you think are most important. It is basically a motivation and time management concept. This book is about vision and quality of life objectives that you were not able to achieve in your daily life but that you want to fulfill in the "golden" years of our life. Reading it should give you the desire and discipline to attain any objective that you have ever dreamed about. It provides a road map to success that you may have thought was part of your past and never to be seen again. For most of us, moving from middle age to "senior" citizen comes around the age of 55. The "gold" in the golden years is the opportunity to choose what we will do to fulfill our life dream. Many people would challenge the "gold" in the golden years because along with the freedom of choice and ability to enjoy the rewards of our lifelong efforts comes the illnesses and maladies of old age. We are all familiar with the bad ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, and kidney and heart problems that come with aging. However, these obstacles can be overcome with replacement surgery and raw desire (intestinal fortitude.) The primary objective of this book is to overcome obstacles and challenges to live a life of happiness and bliss in retirement.

WHO'S CRAZY ANYWAY? Therapist Joan Mazza lets you decide! This extremely useful guide to therapy grew out of Joan Mazza's experience as both a patient in therapy, as well as years as a practicing therapist. Using what she learned, she has written a practical, easy-to-read book designed to help readers make informed, wise decisions when seeking the help they need. The book is written in user-friendly sound bites. Each topic covered has a brief explanation and in some cases, examples. As new concepts and techniques in the mental health field are being developed by pioneering and innovative therapists all the time, it is impossible to list all the therapy models and techniques available today. Still, Joan Mazza covers the main schools of thought and practice, as well as many non-traditional methods. An extensive bibliography recommends other books for study in those areas where readers may wish to seek further, more extensive coverage. When practiced responsibly, ethically and with caution, psychotherapy has a lot to offer people in distress. This book encourages readers to think critically about their problems and how they can be resolved. It suggests the types of help to pursue, and urges patients to be good consumers-willing to evaluate services received as they proceed. Who's Crazy Anyway? suggests questions for readers to ask themselves and their therapist. Joan Mazza contends that you know what's best for you, and this book is a good place to begin.

Seminar paper from the year 2005 in the subject American Studies - Literature, grade: 2,0, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Anglistik, Amerikanistik und Anglophonie), course: Kulturwissenschaftliches Seminar, 17 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: The famous playWho ́s afraid of Virginia Woolf?,written by Edward Albee in 1962, is the subject of this essay. Albee, one of the most important American playwrights of the second half of the 20thcentury, is the link between the nearly elderly generation of playwrights such as Eugene O ́Neill, Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams, and the playwrights from the 1970 ́s and modern drama. Albee writes plays about the traditional American dreams and myths. But unlike O ́Neill or Williams, he tells stories about people and their lies, illusions and the destruction of some of their lifelong lies, which helped them to survive. WithWho ́s afraid of Virginia Woolf?,he created a drama about love, hate, truth, and illusion. It is nearly a mixture between a “livingroomcomedy and a naturalistic tragedy” (Eisenmann 93). The play is not a pure realistic play, it contains absurdist elements- for example the games, rituals and metaphors which are used by the protagonists. In this essay, I will give an overview of the games between the protagonists Martha and George, Nick and Honey and the battles between them. In this context, I will show how the protagonists act and which roles they have to underline and to support the cruel intentions of the others. For this purpose, the child, the imaginary son of Martha and George, gets an important role in the play. In this regard, the issue, whose purpose the games and the individual roles that the protagonists have, is to be questioned. Why do Martha and George act in the way we know and which role do Nick and Honey have in the battles between Martha and George? Which purpose shall be served by the son? With this following essay I will try to emphasize the individual roles and the acting and behaviour of the protagonists and I will give an explanation for the games and their meanings in Who ́s afraid of Virginia Woolf?.

This is a book about baseball’s true “replacement players.” During the four seasons the U.S. was at war in World War II (1942-1945), 533 players made their major-league debuts. There were 67 first-time major leaguers under the age of 21 (Joe Nuxhall the youngest at 15 in 1944). More than 60 percent of the players in the 1941 Opening Day lineups departed for the service. The 1944 Dodgers had only Dixie Walker and Mickey Owen as the two regulars from their 1941 pennant-winning team. The owners brought in not only first-timers but also many oldsters. Hod Lisenbee pitched 80 innings for the Reds in 1945 at the age of 46. He had last pitched in the major leagues in 1936. War veteran and former POW Bert Shepard, with an artificial leg, pitched in one game for the 1945 Senators, and one-armed outfielder Pete Gray played for the St. Louis Browns. The war years featured firsts and lasts. The St. Louis Browns won their first (and last) pennant in 1944 — a feat made more amazing by the fact that they had not finished in the first division since 1929. The 1944 team featured 13 players classified as 4-F. The Chicago Cubs appeared in the 1945 World Series but have not made it back since. Some 53 members of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) have contributed to this volume. We invite you to sit back and relax as you learn Who's on First?
