I did a word study on the word meat in the Bible. In my Greek and Hebrew dictionary, it said it referred to a meal rather than meat as we understand it. From my reading of the Bible the only time people ate meat was at festivals and when they had guests. In Gen. 9:3 is the first time God said man could eat meat. In Gen. 6:3 God said that he was going to shorten man’s days to 120 yrs. so how was God going to do that I believe that Gen. 9:3 is what God did to shorten man’s days. You can observe that in the following chapters that man’s age dropped from 969 yrs. to 120 years. Daniel chapter 1 gives a great example of what just eating vegetables and drinking water will do for you. It’s the greatest example of Gen. 1:29 in the Bible. Romans 12:1&2 are the New Testaments mandate to take care of our bodies and reject what the world says is good for us to nourish our bodies. Some people ask why Jesus didn’t teach on what to eat. The Bible says Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. Science tells us if our body PH is acid we become sick. The Standard American Diet is very acid, meat especially. Which causes osteoporoses. In fact anything cooked will cause our PH to be acid. Meat also has no fiber in it, which our body needs for proper elimination. We don’t have strong enough digestive fluids to digest meat so it goes through our bodies through the rotting process which causes us to have odor problems. When meat is cooked it has no enzymes to help in the digestion process, this puts stress on the pancreas and expends a lot of energy to digest. All nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes are sensitive and destroyed by heat about 105 degrees

Gluten-Free Vegetarian Delights is a selection of gourmet recipes designed for those who choose to be vegetarian and have intolerance to wheat and gluten products. My decision to write the book came after I began to struggle to find suitable gluten-free vegetarian recipes that were nutritious as well as tasty. The goal of this book is to provide a variety of foods from varied origins of the world, catering to health-conscious vegetarians. As we begin to awaken to the fact that we cannot continue the way we have been living for so long, we will begin to see the world in a new light. Some will be forced by their own bodies, no longer able to function the way they did before in the old energy. The old thought patterns that no longer serve them will need to be tossed by the wayside. Imagine a world where we are all self-sufficient and growing our own food in our own gardens, without eating out of cardboard and plastic cartons. A world where the violence and slaughtering of animals no longer exist and cancer is a long-forgotten memory. This is my dream for the future, a future where food is eaten for its life-giving properties and not just for convenience. A future where food preparation is once again performed in the home without chemicals, preservatives, and other dangerous additives. A future where we will once again be guardians and lovers of the land. Be inspired by the many new tastes and tantalizing ingredients these recipes offer, along with the health-giving properties associated with whole foods. Introducing a vast range of culinary tastes from the many countries and exotic places I have visited and have been introduced to through my European- and Asian-influenced upbringing.

A New Zealand Book of Beasts is a groundbreaking examination of the interactions between humans and 'nonhuman animals' - both real and imagined - in New Zealand's arts and literature, popular culture, historiography, media and everyday life. Structured in four parts - Animal Icons, Animal Companions, Art Animals and Controversial Animals - the Book of Beasts touches on topi as diverse as moa-hunting and the SPCA, pest-control and pet-keeping, whaling and whale-watching; on species ranging from sheep to sperm whales and from pekapeka to possums; and on the works of authors and artists as various as Samuel Butler and Witi Ihimaera, Lady Mary Anne Barker and Janet Frame, Michael Parekowhai and Don Binney, Bill Hammond and Fiona Pardington. In examining through literature, art and culture the ways New Zealanders use and abuse, shape and are shaped by, glorify and co-opt, and describe and imagine animals, the authors tell us a great deal about our society and culture: how we understand our own identities and those of others; how we regard, inhabit and make use of the natural world; and how we think about what to buy, eat, wear, watch and read. This is an engaging, original and scholarly rigorous book of cultural criticism and a thoughtful addition to New Zealand literature.

Paleo Vegan

Pages 144

With their heavy emphasis on meat, paleo cookbooks have had little to offer vegans...until now. Athlete, coach, and vegan advocate Ellen Jaffe Jones joins forces with chef extraordinaire and culinary genius Alan Roettinger to present a surprising yet delectable blend of plant-based vegan cuisine and popular paleo diets. Ellen examines both vegan and paleo dietary approaches, culling myth from reality. Laying bare the essentials, she proposes a simple, straightforward way of eating based on natural, whole, unprocessed foods that both diet styles endorse. Nutritional charts let you compare at a glance the value of vital macronutrients, such as protein and calcium, which play an important role in paleo diets, so you can easily select healthful, power-packed, plant-based alternatives to help you survive the rigors of civilized life. Just a simple hunt and gathering at your local grocery store, farmers market, or back-yard garden is all you'll need to evolve your diet from primitive to superhuman. Alan then takes these basic principles and guidelines and sets your primeval taste buds ablaze by dishing up wild creations and exotic flavor combinations using a bounty of fresh, whole foods such as nuts and seeds, fruits, vegetables, wild-crafted greens and mushrooms, and healthy fats (as well as the occasional cheat of beans or grain-like seeds). Dishes like Oyster Mushroom and Baby Bok Choy Curry, Dandelion Salad with Beets, Roasted Pumpkin Dip, and Tuscan Kale with Chili, Garlic, and Black Olives highlight the culinary delights that await in Paleo Vegan.
